An official from YG told 10Asia over the phone, "There are plans for the boys to release a new album but it is tentative -- it will depend on the progress of the album."
The last full-length album that the group released in the country was "REMEMBER," which featured their title track "Red Sunset," a remake of veteran singer Lee Moon-sae’s song, two years ago.
The five-member boy band, discovered and trained by major talenthouse YG Entertainment, is known as one of the biggest names in the Korean pop industry. They have released various hits such as "Dirty Cash," "With U," "Lies" and "Haru Haru."
Each member has branched out into individual projects with T.O.P starring in the war epic "71 Into the Fire" alongside Hallyu star Kwon Sang-woo and Cha Seung-won as well as appearing on the small screen for KBS drama “I Am Sam” and releasing his first solo album in June.
Member Daesung was a regular on the weekend variety program "Family Outing Season 1" with top Korean MC Yoo Jae-suk, while G-Dragon, Taeyang and Seungri focused on their solo music careers releasing albums and songs that have fared well on numerous online and offline music charts.
The group also successfully crossed over to the Japanese pop market in June of last year and went on to winning several awards at the MTV World Stage Video Music Awards Japan in this May.
They took the stage at the Summer Sonic Festival 2010 featuring the biggest names in the music industry, performing their Japanese hits "How Gee," "Number 1," "Tell Me Goodbye," "Koe Wo Kikasete (Let Me Hear Your Voice)," "Gara Gara Go!!" and new tunes “Hands Up” and “Beautiful Hangover” which will be released on August 25.
The boys of BIGBANG are scheduled to release their 5th Japanese single titled Beautiful Hangover on August 25th. Even though the release date is quite some time away the boys performed the song earlier today on Music Fair.
Seungri told the audience his supernatural experience and has attracted attention. In SBS Strong Heart which was broadcasted on 27th, there was a session that all of the guests had to share about their supernatural experience. Seungri started first by telling us that he had encountered an unexpected incident when he was filming the MV of ‘Lie’ in a deserted girls high school. His story had aroused the curiousity of the guests.
Seungri elaborated on what happened at that time. Other staff said they had heard of someone making a school announcement there which added a certain degree of horror to the whole thing. “To be frank, I was really scared; however, it is said that if you met a ghost, then your songs would become a great hit. That was why I wished I could see a ghost then.”
Seungri fell asleep because of the delay in making the video. “When I opened my eyes, there were nobody but only 4 girls who had long hair were surrounding me. One of them whispered into my ears “Ah,ah…”’ His speech turned the atmosphere darker and horrifying.
Seungri continued. “I was so scared that I woke up and found that it was only the buzzing of bees.” He swept the whole area with a wave of laughters and fun.
